Certamen Scribendi (June 7th)

New Prompt

We getting are back into the swing of things now, so to speak, with another Certamen Scribendi. This week, we would like participants to render the following classic joke and punchline into Latin:

New Prompt

Why did the chicken cross the road? – To get to the other side.

Putting the passage under some kind of metrical constraint is not a requirement for this week’s certamen, but, by doing so, you may earn yourself some creativity points.

Submissions are due by next Wednesday June, 14th. Winner’s will be announced soon thereafter.

Instead of emailing your translation to us, we have figured out a way, I hope, to streamline the process. You may, instead, fill out the form below with your translation. Good luck!

If, for whatever reason, you would like to remain anonymous and would not like your name posted anywhere on the site please leave a little note letting us know.
